{Friday's Fancies} Color Blocking

Color Block: day to night

Happy Friday everyone! Even for only have two work days this week, I am exhausted! My dad and step mom (Michelle) were in town for a few days from Orange County and all we did was hang out, eat, and drink. We ate out at some pretty fabulous restaurants {old and new} and cooked the perfect meal, all while drinking an undisclosed amount of wine. It was amazing. But now I'm finally caught up on my sleep and ready to blog again! I have to admit it was nice taking a break from posting during the week, but of course I was itching to get back on the computer to all you cool people.

Now, this Friday we're talking about Color Blocking. This trend has been around for quite some time and is super fun to get creative with! You can color block with a mutli-hued dress or go crazy with bold separates and accessories. Either way, lots of color is the way to go this summer! I wanted to show how easy it is to rock this bold trend from day to night using this season's hottest wardrobe piece: the maxi dress!

//Shopping Around// A maxi dress is one of those low maintenance items that can be slipped on for running errands, lounging around the house, or grilling out with friends. To really test the color blocking limits, pair the dress with even more bold pieces like low wedges and a bag. Make sure and keep the jewelry simple - a few bare necessities like a gold watch with a navy face and dainty necklace is all you need.

//Dinner & Drinks// This dress is composed of some pretty girly colors, so for night time switch out the colorful tote and shoes for a sexy animal print shoulder bag {with sparkles of course!} and shiny platform wedges! Add color with beautiful drop earrings and class it up with a sleeveless white blazer. This will ensure no matter where the night takes you, you're looking classy and chic {even if it is a a dive bar you end up at}!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! Make sure and stop by {longdistanceloving} for Friday's Fancies Color Block Party - it's a rager.
